The exhibition is located in the former gatekeeper's house and in a half-timbered building next to the historic Szczecin Gate. It presents the life of the town's burghers and farmers from the 18th to the 20th century. The building also houses the local tourist information office.
The medieval town of Gartz (Oder), with its historic buildings and partially well-preserved city wall, is located in the Lower Oder Valley National Park, on the banks of the Western Oder.
