About the play
“Very Ibsen” is a black comedy with elements of Scandinavian horror. Characters inspired by figures from Henrik Ibsen’s plays reunite after their father’s death. A mother, daughter, son, wife, and husband form a family rife with tension, secrets, and unspoken emotions.
The creators do not adapt a specific Ibsen play, but draw on what is most universal in his work—family dynamics, inherited trauma, and complex relationships. Audiences are invited into a world where, beneath the warmth of Norwegian sweaters, secrets lie hidden that can cause deep pain.
As Kuba Drzastwa, a member of the Artistic Committee of the Teatr Polska program, wrote: “A hypnotic tale suspended between tenderness and icy detachment. The domestic atmosphere has the roughness of a Norwegian sweater, beneath which the horror of everyday life pulses. This is one of those productions whose dense atmosphere acts like a magnetic trap.”
Cast
Arkadiusz Buszko, Julia Gadzina, Iwona Kowalska, Kacper Kujawa, Michał Lewandowski, and Joanna Matuszak.
About the Teatr Polska Program
Since 2009, the Teatr Polska program has provided residents of towns without a permanent public theater with access to the most interesting Polish productions. Its goal is to popularize the art of theater and promote equal access to culture, particularly outside major urban centers.
The program is organized by the Zbigniew Raszewski Theater Institute. The project is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
