Historically charged

The political reunification was followed in the 1990s by the electrical reunification of the power grids. The Steglitz power plant was shut down, and with it the battery storage facility, which had only been completed in 1986 and was then the world's largest. The Berlin Energy Museum has been located in the old battery storage facility since 2001. Touching, trying things out and learning is expressly encouraged here. One highlight is the model of a gas and steam power plant that visitors can drive themselves. Anyone who has questions about heat pumps, fuel cells or wind power will find answers here. How long this will last is uncertain, however: the building in which the museum is located is to be demolished to make way for a new grid hub.
