Leisure captains in the industrial port

With its ports and loading facilities, the Teltow Canal drives the development of the region forward, as hoped. A total of 15 port facilities are built from 1901 onwards, including four larger branch ports in Britz-Ost, Tempelhof, Lichterfelde and here in Steglitz in 1906. With the construction of the Steglitz power plant, the port becomes an unloading station for hard coal, later for heavy oil. Oil tanks dominate the port landscape until the 1970s. After the power plant goes offline in 1994, the port is transformed into a water sports and leisure location.
