Loewe Radio (1924–1979)

Persecuted pioneers of radio

The brothers David and Siegmund Loewe initially named their company Radiofrequenz GmbH in 1923. In 1924, production moved here to Steglitz. Its groundbreaking electron tube quickly made the Loewe OE 333 one of the best-selling radio receivers in the German Reich. Immediately after the Nazis seized power, the Jewish-Christian family was slandered in smear campaigns, and the now renamed Loewe company was expropriated in 1938 and later renamed Loewe-Opta. Radio production in Steglitz ended in 1979. The traditional manufacturer is now a global company with headquarters and production facilities in Kronach.
