Fine optics for heavy guns

The Goerz company, founded in 1890 and one of the largest manufacturers of cameras, optics and precision mechanics in the German Empire, also produces target finding technology for the military. This factory complex, including a railway connection, port and factory settlement, was built in the middle of the First World War. The Treaty of Versailles forced a realignment. After the merger with the Jena Zeiss works in 1926, the company manufactured cameras, studio technology and locking systems. The successor company, the Swedish Assa-Abloy Group, still produces locking technology on the neighboring property today. Since 2015, the Goerz factory has been transformed into a commercial center for start-ups, manufacturers and culture.
