The church is in the center of the city, in the center of the Victory Square. There is a characteristic modern fountain next to the church.
The Roman Catholic Military Parish of St. Wojciech in Szczecin was erected in 1901 by and for the Evangelical community, which at that time numbered over a thousand believers. At the beginning, the building was called Bugenhagenkirche , from the name of Jan Bugenhagen. The church was built in the years 1906-1909 according to the design of the Berlin architect Jurgen Kroger in the German neo-Gothic style with elements of neo-Romanism in the interior. During the bombing of the city in 1944, the tower, roofs and partly walls of the church were destroyed.
On March 15, 1947, the Liquidation Office in Szczecin handed over the church to the Chaplaincy of the Polish Army of the Roman Catholic rite. After removing the rubble and securing the temple's roof, on October 24, 1948, it was consecrated as the garrison church of St. Wojciech. It has performed this function to this day. The reconstruction lasted for many years, with a break from 1949 to 1957. As soon as more funds were available, the roof was covered with copper sheet and colored stained glass was installed in the windows. In 2009, the church and its surroundings were entered into the Provincial Register of Monuments.
