The outdoor sculptures “In the Footsteps of the Święc family” depict the Święc family—a Pomeranian magnate family. They played a significant political role in Pomerania at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries, but they also left a lasting mark on the history of the town of Sławno. This is because Sławno received its city charter from the Święc family. It was founded under Lübeck law by Jan, Piotr, and Wawrzyniec of that family in 1317. The monumental 2.5-meter sculptures were created during a nationwide open-air sculpture workshop organized by the Sławno City Hall and the “Akson” Association in 2010. They depict Duchess Zofia—wife of Barnim IV (sculptor: R. Nowak), Wawrzyniec Święc (sculptor: A. Krzemieniec), Piotr Święc (sculptor: I. Wierzba), and Jaśek Święc (sculptor: B. Migel). They serve as a reminder of the town’s past history to passersby.
