The palace in Czernikowo was built in 1850 by its then-owner, Friedrich Wilhelm von Wedel. Originally, it was a Baroque building with two stories and a basement, constructed on a rectangular plan. The facades were richly decorated. The palace’s interiors were similarly ornate, featuring intricately carved wooden paneling, ceramic stoves, and elaborate stucco work.

After the war, the palace served many different functions. Initially, it was used for training foremen; then, from 1953 to 1979, it housed the Basic School of Horticulture, and later an agricultural combine. Currently, the palace is privately owned. The postwar years led to significant damage to the palace, affecting both its exterior and interiors. In 1963, the authorities at the time carried out a major renovation of the palace. Ornaments such as cornices and pilasters were removed from the facades. The palace’s interiors were similarly damaged. The wooden paneling was replaced with particleboard and plywood; the ceramic stoves were painted over; and the installation of central heating damaged the walls and ceilings. Fortunately, part of the interiors was saved.

Currently, the palace does not look attractive from the outside. However, the surviving interiors are worth noting—a Rococo salon with stucco decorations on the walls and ceiling, and a room with a fireplace, a wooden ceiling, and parquet floors.

A park surrounds the palace.

The palace is privately owned. It is evident that minor renovations and improvements are taking place in and around the palace. The palace is accessible from the outside.
