The Castle of Pomeranian Dukes, also known as the Zamek Conference Centre is a mixture of old and new. The castle was built in the mid-14th century, and has been thoroughly refurbished lately, due to which we can admire its beauty. It is located near the shore of Lake Trzesiecko, in the heart of a historic park, thanks to which we can have the opportunity for admiring the entire charm of the lake in Szczecinek. The castles offers guests’ conference rooms, accommodation, a restaurant, the Piano Bar, and an art gallery. It is a place of many cultural events and is certainly worth visiting.
The Castle of Pomeranian Dukes in Szczecinek is a mediaeval building, whose southern wing comes from the early 14th century and was erected upon the ruins of a former Slavonic settlement. The further reconstructions of the castle resulted in the loss of its original character. Currently, we can see fragments of bricks exposed during the last reconstruction. Also, the original ceiling joists in the conference rooms on the first floor are worth seeing. The present furnishings of the castle are modern, adapted for conferences and tourists who visit the gallery and the restaurant.
It should be mentioned that the Castle is located in a historic park and, despite the fact that it is no longer surrounded by a moat, as it used to be in the past, its location is really imposing and encourages guests to visit it. Apart from the Zamek Conference Centre located in the southern wing of the castle, the remaining wings house the seat of the Regional Management of the State Forests and a number of private entities operating in the northern wing. Near the yard, the Supra-Regional Centre of Ecological Education and Lake Revitalization is being created.
Unfortunately, the Castle is not adapted for the needs of the disabled and provides no entertainment for children.
