There is a cemetery on the outskirts of the village. It is an important site because it contains the mass grave of 18 fallen Polish officers from Oflag IIC Woldenberg in Dobiegniew. The monument was initiated by the village authorities, residents, and surviving survivors of Woldenberg. It was erected to commemorate the tragic events that took place here on January 30, 1945. On January 24, 1945, the Germans began evacuating the prisoner-of-war camp in Dobiegniew westward. The evacuation took place in two groups. One reached the vicinity of Hamburg. The second group, however, was recaptured by Soviet troops in Dziedzice following bloody fighting. During the fighting, a tank shell struck the barn where the Polish prisoners of war were being held, killing 18 officers.
In memory of this event, a commemorative plaque was erected in 1968 at the soldiers’ gravesite. The plaque bears the names of the fallen officers.
The museum in Dziedzice is largely dedicated to the Woldenbergers.
