Cross-border promenade between Świnoujście and the municipality of Heringsdorf
The beginnings of cooperation aimed at creating this promenade date back to 2007, when the city of Świnoujście and the municipality of Heringsdorf began preparations for a joint project. On 29 October 2010, a ceremony was held to mark the start of work on the cross-border promenade.
The project connected the promenades of Świnoujście and Ahlbeck, creating a joint Polish-German route nearly 12 km long, stretching from Bansin to Świnoujście's ‘windmill’, i.e. the ‘Stawa Młyny’ navigation point on the western breakwater. At the border crossing, there is a symbolic gate connecting the two nations.
The promenade also marks the beginning of the Polish section of EuroVelo 10 and 13 (Velo Baltica), formerly known as R-10.
