In the earliest times, people extracted peat here, which they hauled along the banks of the Prahm Canal to Bad Sülze. Today, valuable gravel is mined around Langsdorf and partly processed on site. Of particular interest is the tourist development of the lakes created by the gravel extraction. A swimming area has been created at a former quarry pond, which is particularly suitable for families with children. A well-maintained beach with an adjacent lawn with some seating and a volleyball court. The adjacent service area offers drinks and snacks from a food truck. The owner charges a fee of one euro for the maintenance of the grounds.
