With an interior length of 96 m, a nave height of almost 33 m and a 104 m high tower, St. Mary's Church is the largest of Stralsund's three brick churches. Built in the 14th and 15th centuries, it boasts magnificent vaulted ceilings, 15th century Gothic paintings and an extraordinary interior.

Take part in one of the church or vault tours and be fascinated by the grandeur of this building. Allow yourself time to take in the basilica from the outside too. It is not only impressive from a distance, but also up close with its size and monumentality.

The ascent to the church tower is possible all year round during opening hours for all visitors who are physically fit. It begins with a stone spiral staircase that reaches about halfway up the tower.
height of the tower. From there, you can already see the city from above through the tower hatches. The path continues past three bells from the 17th century, up narrow wooden stairs to the viewing platform, from which you can see as far as the island of Hiddensee on days with good weather.
