Fishing festival: Gaff rig

Greifswald once again invites you to the largest maritime event in Western Pomerania. For three days and nights, guests can experience a varied program on four stages, in the Kinderland, at funfairs and fairgrounds, during open ships and boat trips. Sports enthusiasts can take part in competitions.

One of the highlights and namesake of the fishing festival is the gaff rig. Lovers of traditional ships can look forward to around 40 museum ships and modern yachts passing through Wieck Bridge on Saturday from 13:00. Ships and crews will be expertly presented.

The entire festival area in the historic fishing village of Wieck is covered by the funfair with a large selection of colorful rides. In addition to children's carousels and bumper cars, wilder rides are also on offer. If you want to watch the traditional ships setting sail or the play of colors in the evening from a height of 40 meters, take a ride on the Ferris wheel.

The Ryck Hanging World Championship is also particularly popular. Here, participants have to cross the Ryck on a plastic rope. Each competitor can choose their own technique. The rope is kept under tension by a tractor, but it still takes strength and skill to cover the 30-meter distance. Another maritime highlight will be the special discipline of sea sports, the ZK10 cutter regatta. Teams from Germany will compete for victory in the Dänische Wiek.

After the official opening of the festival, the legendary SEAT Rock and Pop Night will start on the stage at the lido. This is followed by the fireworks display over the pier from 22:45. The famous NDR 1 Radio MV party takes place on Saturday. The Fischerfest weekend ends with the pyro laser and light show Ryck in Flames.
