We would like to invite you to the opening of the exhibition NO, which definitely means NO. Hermann Stöhr (1898-1940) on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 5:00 pm (lobby by the Main Reading Room) and a meeting and film dedicated to the person of Hermann Stöhr (Zbigniew Herbert Room).

Hermann Stöhr was a Szczecinian. He was born in Szczecin on January 4, 1898 - he was executed by the Nazis on June 21, 1940 in Berlin-Plötzensee. He was a Protestant theologian, publicist, publisher, doctor of state, activist in German and international social and aid movements, and pacifist. In Szczecin, he first lived at today's 7 Unislawa St., later at 12 Julian Tuwim St. In August 1939, he refused to report to the army and did not accept a mobilization card. On August 31, 1939, he was arrested and, after trials, sentenced to death "for weakening the combat power of the state."

The exhibition was prepared by Berlin's Friedensbibliothek (Antikriegsmuseum), a long-established institution that, among other things, prepares anti-war exhibitions that are presented not only in Berlin. They travel throughout Germany and, in some cases, Europe. The exhibition is curated by Jochen Schmidt, who will open the exhibition together with Szczecin editor Bogdan Twardochleb.
