A turning point for cycle tourism. Poland has become the National Coordination Centre for EuroVelo.

Poland joins an elite group

The decision of the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF) confirmed that Poland meets the highest organisational and substantive standards to act as the coordinating institution for the development and promotion of the EuroVelo European cycle route network. Thus, our country has joined the group of countries that are actively shaping the future of sustainable tourism in Europe.

EuroVelo in Poland – an impressive network of routes

There are as many as six EuroVelo routes running through Poland:

EV2 Capitals Route,
EV4 Central Europe Route,
EV9 Baltic–Adriatic,
EV10 Baltic Sea Cycle Route,
EV11 East Europe Route,
EV13 Iron Curtain Trail.
The total length of the network in our country is nearly 5,000 km, of which an increasing part is already fully prepared and marked.

Western Pomerania is the leader in Poland in the development of EuroVelo routes, having completed 93% of the EuroVelo route length. This is the Velo Baltica route, part of EuroVelo 10 (Around the Baltic Sea) and EuroVelo 13 (Iron Curtain Trail). 

Significance for Polish tourism

The establishment of the NECC in Poland means that:

POT will become the central point of contact and coordination for all activities related to EuroVelo,
cooperation between regions, local governments, industry organisations and international partners will be strengthened,
Poland will be able to promote its tourist attractions more effectively, based on the growing popularity of cycle tourism in Europe.
Thanks to this decision, Poland is becoming not only an important transit country, but also a fully-fledged leader in setting standards and quality for the European cycle route network.

A historic moment

‘This is a great success for Poland and the Polish Tourism Organisation. The approval of our country as the National Coordination Centre for EuroVelo is a recognition of our efforts to date and a great opportunity for the development of cycle tourism, which is gaining in importance throughout Europe,’ emphasised Małgorzata Wilk-Grzywna, Vice-President of the Polish Tourist Organisation.

Poland on the cycling map of Europe

Thanks to this decision, Poland is officially strengthening its position on the map of cycling tourism in Europe. This is not only an honour, but also a commitment to further develop infrastructure, improve the quality of the offer and promote ecological, active leisure.
