Phase XII of the construction of the Western Lake District Cycling Route. Sections in the municipalities of Marianowo, Dobrzany, and Ińsko, as well as signage in the municipality of Dobra (Szczecin). The project will be co-financed by European funds.
Article dated: April 3, 2026
The project is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026, by fall.
The total length of the construction sections is nearly 22.4 km, while the sections to be marked are approximately 6 km. The two construction sections are: Marianowo–Mosina and Mosina–Ińsko, while the marking will be carried out in Ińsko and on the Dobra–State Border section.
The Marianowo–Mosina railway section is part of the defunct narrow-gauge railway line connecting Stargard–Stara Dąbrowa–Trąbki–Kozy Pomorskie, which was entered into the register of monuments in 2002; therefore, as part of this project, a number of elements will be created to commemorate the history of this line. The track bed where the bicycle path will be built is currently partially dismantled, partially covered with soil, and overgrown.
After the rails are removed, there are plans to display them in sections along the proposed bike path, marking the historic route of the railway line along with its original one-meter track gauge. The display is planned for five 8-meter sections. In the vicinity of three former railway stops along this route, information panels about the historic site will be installed.
The project also includes the reconstruction of the bridge over the Dołżnica River. According to the design, a new 3.5-meter-wide bicycle footbridge will be built here. The new steel-framed span will rest on the existing concrete abutments. Another interesting fact is that elements of the dismantled railway line will be preserved and transported to a location designated by the Stargard Commuter Railway Society. In the future, they are to be incorporated into the Stargard–Małkocin section.
The new section of the bike path will have an asphalt surface 2.5 m wide.
According to the signed contract, the construction work will cost over 22 million PLN gross. The contractor is a consortium of companies: TERLAN from Poznań and STANLED from Stargard.
The contractor has 400 days to complete all the work.
