Żelisławski Zapiecek

Żelisławski Zapiecek is a project created by enthusiasts and lovers of traditional crafts, handicrafts, and cuisine. The Żelisław Enthusiasts Association organizes many workshops here on wickerwork, weaving, ceramics, and cooking. Here, you can learn to bake bread made according to a medieval recipe, with herbs from nearby fields, and baked in horseradish leaves. The specialty of the local cuisine is “szczodraki”—rolls stuffed with groats and pork cracklings. Zapieck is housed in a renovated barn that now bears no resemblance to its former purpose. Ovens for baking bread and firing pottery have been built here, and looms have been set up. It’s a place with a lot of character, created by passionate people who are eager to share their enthusiasm with others.
