The hospital complex on Lake Kańsko was established in the early 20th century. Since its opening in 1906, it served as a rehabilitation and convalescence center for patients from Pomerania and Mecklenburg.
The facility was owned by the Landesversicherungsanstalt (State Social Insurance Institution), headquartered in Szczecin. The location was chosen due to the area’s exceptional climatic conditions. During both world wars, the facility served as a military hospital. After World War II, the center was taken over by the Ministry of Public Security, and subsequently by its successor, the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, under whose jurisdiction it remains to this day. Currently, the facility specializes in cardiac, orthopedic, and neurological rehabilitation.
The center’s main building was designed on a nearly rectangular plan. The brick structure has two stories with high ceilings, a usable attic, and a deep basement. It is accompanied by auxiliary buildings: an administrative building, a former stable, a warehouse, a carpentry shop, an autopsy room, and pump houses. Most of the buildings date back to 1905. The entire 2.4-hectare complex is surrounded by a picturesque park.
