In the place where breeding ponds existed in the pre-war period since 1929, the Tychowo Forest District with the help of the NFOŚiGW fund has carried out the restoration of the ponds. The work was carried out in 2009-2010 as part of the project "Increasing the retention capacity and counteracting floods and drought in lowland forest ecosystems". The facility was named Paciorek Ponds. The name refers to the view that unfolds from a bird's eye view, the water mirror resembles beads strung on a ribbon.
The water retention facility includes 12 reservoirs connected by dikes. The water surface area is 5.29 hectares. The difference in level between the first and last ponds is 16 meters.
In the pre-war period, in the area of the German forestry of Tietzow, Forester Ernst Preusse ran a forest-fishing farm, raising carp and trout in these facilities. The ponds also played an anti-flood role, being located in the catchment area of the Parsęta River, which was always a threat to the towns of Białogard and Karlino. During periods of flood danger, water in the ponds was dammed up and the excess was directed to the polder located in the area of the present forest. After the war activities, the ponds went wild, the spring thaw washed out the dikes and a forest was planted in the place of the ponds.
Thanks to the initiative of foresters of the Tychowo Forest District, a revitalization project was carried out. To commemorate the people who contributed to the creation of the facility, a boulder with the names of these people engraved on it was placed at each pond.
The newly created ponds enrich the biodiversity of the area and have become an attraction of the Tychowo Land.
