Velo Baltica Route – Current Disruptions.
TheVelo Balticaroute is the West Pomeranian section of two international cycling routes: EuroVelo 10 (Baltic Sea Cycle Route) and EuroVelo 13 (Iron Curtain Trail). It runs along the Baltic coast and offers 235 km of well-maintained cycling infrastructure along with supporting facilities, as well as beautiful coastal landscapes and numerous tourist attractions.
The Velo Baltica route is among the best-maintained cycling routes in Poland; however, temporary disruptions may occur along its length. These are most often related toconstruction and roadwork, such as street expansions, infrastructure development, or port projects. In some places, you may also encounterunmarked sections, changes in traffic organization, or the need to take detours. There are also occasionalrestrictions on access to certain sections of the route due to safety regulations or ongoing work in the area.
On the Velo Baltica route, difficulties occur mainly in theŚwinoujście area, on selected sections of Wolin Island (includingMiędzyzdroje – Wisełka – no signage), as well as in coastal towns such asPobierowo, Ustronie Morskie, Gąski, Łazy – Dąbki(no road; the route runs through Osieki and Iwięcino)or Jarosławiec. These include, among other things, construction work, road closures on certain sections, and local traffic rerouting.
- Świnoujście – restricted zone near the LNG terminal –temporary ban on entering within 200 m of the LNG terminal; this affects sections of the Velo Baltica, Blue Velo, and Around the Szczecin Lagoon routes (Ku Morzu Street). A temporary detour has been established and marked on-site.
- Świnoujście – Container Terminal construction –disruptions caused by construction work, increased vehicle traffic, and temporary road closures between Świnoujście and Podziemne Miasto. A comprehensive detour around the construction site between Świnoujście and Podziemne Miasto along Barlickiego and Wolińska Streets is planned for the summer season.
- Międzyzdroje – Wisełka – no route signage –section currently being designed. Due to the lack of signage, the use of maps or navigation apps is recommended.
- Woliński National Park – toll-free transit –entry fee for visitors to attractions; cyclists in transit on the Międzyzdroje–Wisełka section are exempt from the fee.
- Pobierowo – expansion of Grunwaldzka Street –local disruptions. Work includes, among other things, new pavement, parking lots, landscaping, sewerage, and lighting; estimated completion time is 20 months from the start of work.
- Ustronie Morskie – recommended detour around the promenade during the summer season –narrow promenade with heavy pedestrian traffic; detour via Wojska Polskiego Street.
- Gąski – reconstruction of Nadbrzeżna Street –construction of a road including a bike path, scheduled for July 2025 – December 2026. Two (unmarked) detour routes have been designated – along the coast via forest paths and a southern route via local paved roads.
- Łazy – Dąbkowice – no route along the coast– no bike path; the only option is to walk your bike on the beach; it is recommended to follow the marked route through Osieki and Iwięcino.
- Lake Kopań – construction of a pedestrian and bicycle bridge –possible disruptions due to construction vehicles and local crossings.
- Jarosławiec – Jezierzany – road reconstruction and closure of a section –final phase of work. The bike path surface has already been completed. Possible traffic disruptions and movement of heavy equipment.
The Old Railway Trailis a route connecting the Baltic coast with the Wałcz Lake District, leading from Kołobrzeg or Mielno to Wałcz. Over a stretch of approximately 170 km, it largely follows the route of former railway lines, offering a gentle terrain, a peaceful ride through nature, and historic train stations, palaces, and churches.
Along the Old Railway Trail, difficulties mainly occur on sections crossing public roads and in areas where road construction is underway. These can be encountered, among other places, nearProvincial Road 102,Karścina, on the forested sectionbetween Wierzchowo and Wąsosz, as well as in theWałczandPiła areas. They primarily involve construction work, local road surface deterioration, and possible detours and traffic rerouting.
Old Railway Trail – current disruptions.
- Provincial Road 102 – local disruptions due to road reconstruction– local traffic disruptions may occur along the route due to ongoing roadwork.
- Wierzchowo – Wąsosz – section in poor condition –a forest section of fire road No. 10, approximately 2 km long, with a dirt surface; there is sand in some places, and mud during rainfall.
- Wałcz – construction of the southern bypass along National Road No. 22 –the route crosses the construction site; local detours and traffic disruptions are possible.
- Piła – construction of a roundabout on Wojska Polskiego Avenue– the route runs through the construction site; local detours and traffic disruptions are possible.
Old Railway Trail – connector
Two recommended detours are in effect on the Old Railway Trail connector. Traffic disruptions occur mainly on theMścice–Mielno section, where modernization work is underway (alternative route), and in theKlępin Białogardzki area, where there is a section with poor road surface conditions, including mud, ruts, and difficulties following rainfall.
- Reconstruction of the Mścice–Mielno bike path—modernization of a 4-kilometer section of the Mścice–Mielno bike path. This section is completely impassable. Bicycle traffic is redirected to the county road, where a speed limit of 30 km/h has been enforced. We propose an alternative route via local roads that partially bypasses the county road. Work is scheduled to be completed in June 2026, before the summer holidays.
- Klępino Białogardzkie – temporary section in poor condition –a dirt road with ruts and mud during rainfall; large puddles may form after rain, making passage difficult. Cyclists on non-mountain bikes are advised to take an alternative route from Białogard via Połczyńska Street, then along a local road to Klępino Białogardzkie (asphalt surface).
The Around the Szczecin Lagoon Routeis a cycling loop connecting Poland and Germany (nearly 300 km), running along the waters of the Szczecin Lagoon, Lake Dąbie, and picturesque shorelines. The route offers contact with wild nature, numerous viewpoints, marinas, and historical sites, as well as a comfortable ride on asphalt, gravel, and bike paths.

- Świnoujście – construction of the Container Terminal in the Outer Port; possibletraffic disruptions on the section between Świnoujście and Podziemne Miasto due to increased construction vehicle traffic and temporary road closures; A comprehensive detour around the construction site between Świnoujście and Podziemne Miasto along Barlickiego and Wolińska Streets is planned for the summer season.
- Świnoujście – restricted zone near the LNG terminal –a temporary ban on entering within 200 m of the LNG terminal is in effect; the closure applies to the section shared by the Velo Baltica, Blue Velo, and Around the Szczecin Lagoon routes (Ku Morzu Street). The trail offers riding along former railway tracks as well as forest and paved sections, providing contact with nature, scenic viewpoints, and charming towns.
On the Western Lake District route, difficulties occur mainly in thePełczyce area, on theSławęcin–Nosowo section, as well as nearSuchania, Recza, and Ińsko. These include, among others, a road closure due to a damaged bridge, ongoing road construction, sections with poor road surface conditions, and local natural hazards requiring special caution and the use of detours.
