The proposed trip is a scenic loop leading from Szczecin to Trzebież. In the first part of the route, we’ll follow a well-known section of the “Around the Lagoon” Route, while on the way back we’ll take less obvious, extremely quiet forest roads and fire roads.

The first half of the trip will be very familiar to many cyclists. The “Around the Lagoon” Route runs along separate bike paths through the center of Szczecin, past Lake Głębokie, Tanowo, and Police, all the way to Trzebieża. Once there, it’s worth stopping for a stroll along the seaside promenade, climbing the observation tower, and, of course, trying the eponymous waffle, which for many is a must-try during a visit.

Even more interesting attractions await us on the way back. From Trzebież, we take paved fire road No. 14, which allows us to enjoy peace and quiet, the closeness of nature, and a comfortable ride away from car traffic for many kilometers. It’s the perfect place for a quiet conversation or to savor the forest atmosphere.

Near Nowa Jasienica, we turn onto fire road No. 25. Although the surface here changes from asphalt to a well-paved dirt road, the ride remains comfortable and pleasant. It’s worth remembering that we’re traveling through forested areas where forest management work may be carried out periodically.

After crossing Provincial Road No. 115, we continue our journey through vast forest complexes all the way to the vicinity of the village of Gunice. Here, several route options become available. The described tour takes the most convenient route to Tanowo, from where a bike path leads us back to Szczecin.

Those seeking a greater dose of adventure can continue straight along fire road No. 56 toward Bartoszewo, famous for its picturesque lake, and then reach the Głębokie neighborhood. This route is part of the “Gravel Around the Lagoon” ride. However, be prepared for occasional sandy sections where you may need to walk your bike for a short distance. Additionally, ongoing construction of the bypass may cause local delays or temporary closures of certain roads.

Alternatively, you can extend the trip slightly by heading east to the Świdwie Nature Reserve. The observation tower there offers an excellent opportunity to watch birds and admire one of the most valuable natural areas in Western Pomerania.

This route connects the region’s most popular cycling attractions with lesser-known, peaceful stretches leading through the forests of the Wkrzańska Primeval Forest. As a result, it’s an excellent option both for first-time visitors to the area and for cyclists familiar with the Route Around the Lagoon who are looking for new inspiration for a day trip.
