Stage I: Szczecin - Modrzewie (Goleniów) [40 km]
We leave the center of Szczecin via scenic bicycle route of Castle Trail (the entrance is at the bottom, near the waterfront). Then the route leads to the right-bank part of the city to the Dąbie district. A new Grabek bicycle path was built on the embankments of Lake Dąbie. Cycling along the shoreline is certainly fun - on the left hand we can always see Lake Dąbie. Along the way, some nice places to rest by the water are built, both for sailors and cyclists. Just before Lubczyna, there is a shipwreck in the rushes, to which a narrow path leads among reeds. The yacht port and the beach in Lubczyna is a good place for a short break.
Then the route meanders along the shores of the lake, opening different views now and then. When you reach the Ina River you can turn west and reach the wild beach. The place owes its popularity to the unique view of the concrete ship not far from the shore. Yes, you read it right. It is a wreck of one of the ships built of reinforced concrete by the Germans, bombed in Szczecin in 1945. After the war, it was towed to Inoujście and sunk. Music concerts are organized here from time to time, the audience stays on boats around the wreck. From the beach we return to the route along the Ina River.
