Szczecin Lagoon Cycle Route - Stage I [Szczecin - Modrzewie k. Goleniowa]

Stage I: Szczecin – Modrzewie (Goleniów) [43 km]

From the center of Szczecin, we take the scenic Trasa Zamkowa bicycle route (the entrance is at the bottom, near the waterfront). The route then leads to the right bank of the city to the Dąbie district. Next, we enter a new gravel bicycle route along the coastline, with Lake Dąbie visible on the left. Along the way, there are places to rest by the water, such as Zakątek Chełszcząca and Przylądek Czterech Szkieletów (Four Skeletons Cape) located on Szkieletów Bay. Fortunately, there are no skeletons there – the name was given jokingly by Szczecin boaters. However, just before Lubczyna, there is a shipwreck in the reeds, which can be reached by a narrow path among the reeds. The yacht harbor and beach in Lubczyna are a good place for a short rest. Further on, the route meanders along the shores of the lake, opening up new views every few moments. After reaching the Ina River, we can turn west to a wild beach. The place owes its popularity to the unusual view of a concrete ship. Not far from the mouth of the Ina, the wreck of one of the reinforced concrete ships built in Darłówko by the Germans, bombed in Szczecin in 1945, protrudes from the water. After the war, it was towed to Inoujście and sunk. At the turn of the 1970s and 1980s, it was even supposed to serve as a bathing spot in Dąbie, but the idea did not work out and it was refloated and grounded near Inoujście. Concerts are sometimes organized there, during which the audience stands on boats around the wreck.

Transport: the main railway hubs are Szczecin Główny and Szczecin Dąbie, where regional and long-distance trains stop. Another major station is Goleniów, which serves connections from Szczecin, Kołobrzeg, Koszalin, Kamień Pomorski, and Świnoujście. Connections are operated by POLREGIO and Intercity. This allows you to travel from the city center to districts such as Dąbie or Zdroje. The most convenient way to transport a bicycle is by tram. There is an airport near Goleniów.
