Cycling in 2025: the most popular routes in Western Pomerania
Cycling routes
The most popular route last year was the Old Railway Trail – over 13,000 people read about it on our website, which represents a 17% increase compared to the previous year. Although the number of visits was even higher, we only include the number of unique users in our rankings. It is worth noting that the data comes exclusively from the website and does not include traffic in the mobile application.
How did the other routes fare in comparison?
-
Old Railway Trail (R15) – 13,084
-
Around the Szczecin Lagoon – 9,110
-
Velo Baltica (R10/13) – 8,083
-
Blue Velo (R3) – 5,486
-
Berlin – Szczecin – Kołobrzeg (R800/801, under construction) – 2,777
-
Western Lake District Route – Szczecin connector (R20A) – 927
We can see that Velo Baltica, which according to bicycle counters is the most frequently chosen travel destination, was visited almost twice less often on our website than the Old Railway Trail. However, last year's investments had a significant impact on this – almost all completed projects concerned the SKS, in particular the Złocieniec – Wałcz section and the link to Świdwin. We wrote more about these investments in a separate article.
Summary of cycling investments in 2025
Route stages
The investments clearly translate into interest in individual sections of the routes. All four stages of the Old Railway Trail are in the top ten:
-
Old Railway Trail – Stage III (Złocieniec – Wałcz) – 3,103 users
-
Western Lake District Route – Stage I (Siekierki – Myślibórz) – 1,291
It is worth noting that Stage IV has not yet been started. The section is passable, but unmarked and without dedicated infrastructure, so we encourage you to carefully read the route description and use navigation (e.g., in the Pomorze Zachodnie app).
Bicycle tours
In addition to the official routes, we also prepare cycling trips that are not marked in the field, but are perfect as a base for weekend getaways.
The most popular ones – Around Lake Jamnoand Around Wolin Island– attracted 1,752 and 1,484 readers, respectively. The Szczecin – Siekierki Loop closes the trip podium with 1,100 users. However, there are many more, so be sure to read about them.
Attractions
Cyclists don't live by the route alone – tourist attractions are just as important. The popularity ranking among Polish users (our website is available in four languages) is as follows:
-
Nowe Warpno – Altwarp ferry – 3,115 users. On the one hand, it is a means of transport, on the other, an attraction in itself.
-
Siekierki – Neurüdnitz European Bridge – 2,061. Probably the most photographed cycling infrastructure in the region, twice awarded in prestigious architectural competitions (Property Design Awards 2022, Life in Architecture 2025).
-
Ferry in Świnoujście (Warszów) – 1,888.
Kawcza Góra(1,701), Pomorska Góra Piasku(1,420), the Kopice – Trzebież crossing(1,264) and the Prom Bez Granic ferry in Gozdowice(1,013) also enjoyed great popularity. The conclusion is obvious – Western Pomerania is all about bikes, ferries, and... mountains.
In addition, it is worth paying attention to the promenade in Sarbinowo, the giant Mamutowiec in Brwice, and the Paciorkowe Pondsnear Koszalin, for which we have also prepared a dedicated trip.
Download
Paper maps are available in many places and during numerous events, but you can also download and print them yourself. You have been eager to take advantage of this opportunity – last year, our maps were downloaded almost 2,000 times. Also noteworthy are the 250 downloads of route conceptsand over 100 downloads of last year's bicycle specification sheet and MPR forms.
Thank you for every visit to our website. We hope that it helps cyclists discover and explore our beautiful region.
